The Remark building was the first unit to completed on the Kingston Park Estate on the edge of Peterborough. The site was formerly clay extraction pits for the brickworks.  The pits have been filled in with PFA and capped with clay. The ground conditions varied considerably across the site with extensive buried obstructions.

The foundation solution varied from unit to unit to match the abruptly changing ground conditions. Where practical conventional pad and strip foundations were utilised, however several of the units required piled foundations due to the depth of the PFA.

Due to the successful marketing of the units and the demand for this type of accommodation rapid solutions were required to meet the fast track construction programme.
